It's down to the wire now for the five contenders who have been shortlisted for the ultimate individual accolade in northern hemisphere rugby, ERC European Player of the Year 2013.
It was Gloucester's eleventh win in a row in all competitions and tries from Tom Voyce, Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu, Darren Dawidiuk and Charlies Sharlpes along with 14-points from Nicky Robinson saw them lift their first piece of silverware since the Amlin Challenge Cup in 2006.
Newcastle's points came from a Luke Eves try and a Jimmy Gopperth penalty.
Gloucester failed to qualify for this year's Heineken Cup after four consecutive years in the tournament and after the victory head coach Bryan Redpath was full of praise for his team.
"Credit to the boys, we really stuck at it today and I think we were a little better prepared," he said
"I am delighted for the players, the staff and all the supporters - chuffed for everybody, it's a great achievement."
