Bath will be without England centre Olly Barkley for the rest of the season after he suffered a double leg fracture in his side's defeat to Gloucester at Kingsholm on Saturday.
The 29-year-old fell awkwardly in a collision with team-mate Butch James towards the end of the derby fixture and it has been announced he broke both his tibia and fibular in the accident.
He underwent an operation in Gloucester on Saturday evening and the medical team were pleased with the procedure but the former Heineken Cup Champions have revealed that Barkley will not feature again for them this season.
Director of rugby, Sir Ian McGeechan, said "It is obviously very disappointing for Olly to suffer an injury of this nature, especially as he had been playing so well recently, and at such an important part of the season.
"It is doubly disappointing for Olly and the Club as he also missed much of last season with a bad leg injury. We will of course make sure he receives the best possible medical attention to get him back on the field as and when he is ready."
