Heineken Cup quarter-finalists Leinster have beefed up their pack for next season by snapping-up Ireland international hooker Sean Cronin on a two-year deal.
The Connacht front row man helped his current side reach the semi-finals of the Amlin Challenge Cup last season, but can now look forward to making his Heineken Cup debut in 2011/12.
The 24-year-old Cronin played for Munster before heading to Connacht in 2008 and has won seven caps and is in the Irish squad for the 2011 RBS 6 Nations campaign. He made his Irish debut against Fiji at Leinster's home ground, the RDS, in November, 2009, in a game in which the Leinster duo Jonathan Sexton and Sean O'Brien also made their Test bows.
Capped for Ireland at Schools, Under 19, Under 21 and A team levels, Cronin made his first international start against New Zealand last summer.
"I'm delighted to put pen to paper on a deal to join Leinster this summer and I believe that with the exciting players in their squad the future looks bright," said Cronin.
"I have been hugely impressed by Leinster's displays both in the Magners League and the Heineken Cup this season and the province's ambitions mirror my own. Hopefully, I can establish myself in the squad when I join up in a few months time.
"I am grateful for the opportunity that Connacht have given me to play for a fantastic club over the last three years. They will continue to go from strength to strength under Eric Elwood and the existing management team and I will do my utmost to help improve our Magners League standing over the coming months."
