Two-times European champions Munster will join the five Pool winners in the Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-finals after securing a bonus point in their final Heineken Cup game against London Irish to finish second in Pool 3.
It means the Irish side will join Brive (27 points), La Rochelle (24 points), Stade Francais Paris (24 points + 1 game to play), Harlequins (24 points) and Montpellier (21 points) in the last eight.
Munster will be among three Heineken Cup runners-up joining the Amlin Challenge Cup Pool winners, although they will have to play away from home against the teams ranked 2-4. French champions ASM Clermont Auvergne and two-times Heineken Cup winners London Wasps are among the candidates to join them, along with the Scarlets.
They will, however, go into an open draw for the semi-finals, which could land them a plum tie in the last four at their choice of home venue.
The Amlin Challenge Cup final was won by Cardiff Blues last year, who were one of the three teams that qualified via the Heineken Cup. This season's final will be at the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday, 20 May - the night before the 16th Heineken Cup final at the Millennium Stadium a mile away in the heart of the Welsh capital.
