Toby Booth's post-match smile told the whole story for London Irish as their head coach toasted the end of his side's 10 match losing streak with a big win over the Ospreys.
The Irish may have been out of the running for a quarter-final place, but their power packed defensive display put an end to the Ospreys' hopes of a fourth successive Heineken Cup knock-out spot.
"Where we have been in recent weeks this game was all about getting a result. It really is a monkey off our back," said a delighted Booth.
"This win has been coming for a few weeks, but nothing beats finally getting over the line. I have wanted the win to come, and we have felt it coming, but you have to earn the right to get a victory and I thought we did that today.
"We are under no illusions about where we are, but it will be easier going to work on Monday after a win like that."
Irish have to travel to Thomond Park to complete their fixtures in this season's 'Pool of Death' while the Ospreys host Pool winners Toulon. The Welsh region's miserable afternoon was made complete even before the end when Wales and British & Irish Lions prop Adam Jones left the field at half-time.
He strained ligaments in his left elbow and joins fellow Lions prop Gethin Jenkins on an ever lengthening Welsh injury list ahead of the RBS 6 Nations.
