"I haven't done the maths yet, but we've got a chance of going through. But the chances are that if we beat Benetton Treviso and make the quarter-finals we will be travelling somewhere," admitted Cockerill.
"The Heineken Cup is a great competition and we want to be playing against the best teams in Europe. The fact the Scarlets have to go to Perpignan and win to stand any chance of going through helps everyone in the Pool.
"I thought the Scarlets played really well against us and it was a good game. In the end, the power of our scrum, along with the issues they have in that area, was crucial.
"They put us under a lot of pressure in the first half, but we didn't get flustered. We are a resilient side, although half-time came at a good time for us and allowed us to re-group.
"We are a difficult side to play against and my players deserve a lot of credit because they put in all the effort on the training field."
Tigers face Treviso at Welford Road in their final Pool match and will be looking for five points to put even more pressure on Perpignan. But Cockerill and his players will be taking nothing for granted after the narrow squeak they experienced in Italy in the first round.
"We've got a lot of respect for Treviso and they gave us a really hard game in the first Pool game. We'll prepare well and look forward to another good performance," said Cockerill.
