Double Amlin Challenge Cup winner Charlie Hodgson has called time on his 11 year relationship with Sale Sharks and has signed a long-term deal with Saracens.
England outside half Hodgson has scored 558 points in 51 European outings for Sale in both the Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup had already announced his departure from the Manchester based club stating he was looking for fresh pastures for the 2011/12 season.
Saracens have today confirmed they have agreed a deal to bring the 2005 British and Irish Lion to Vicarage Road.
The 30-year-old outside half played a pivitol role in Sale's two European trimuph's but has announced his excitement at making the move south.
"I am excited to be joining a club now recognised as the most ambitious and player-friendly in the Premiership," he said.
"Saracens have great people and great plans - there really is something special happening in north London, and I'm looking forward to being part of it.
"Irrespective of what has happened this season at Sale, I wanted a new challenge elsewhere. I'm not getting any younger and wouldn't want to hang up my boots wondering whether I should have moved.
"Sale have always been good to me and I have made many friends at the club, both on and off the field. The fans are very special and they can rest assured that I will be giving everything and more while I am still a Sharks player and want to leave the club on a high note."
Saracens Director of Rugby Mark McCall has spoken about his delight of capturing Hodgson's signature.
"As a club, we have been making massive strives over the past couple of years and the signing of Charlie Hodgson is another major step," he said.
"He is a world-class player whose personality and ability ideally suits our environment.
"Charlie was wanted by many leading clubs, and we are delighted he has chosen to sign with Saracens."
