Leicester Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill admits his side now face two must-win games if they are to make it through to the knockout stages of Europe's greatest club competition.
The former continental champions drew 22-22 with French giants Perpignan at Welford Road on Sunday afternoon to leave Pool 5 wide open.
Leicester travel to pool leaders the Scarlets in Round 5 before hosting Benetton Treviso a week later and Cockerill knows only a brace of victories will secure a 10th quarter-final place in 14 seasons of European involvement.
"You have to win both games, it's as simple as that. If we want to qualify, we have to win both games, so it'll make it interesting," said Cockerill, who led the Tigers to the Heineken Cup Final in his first season in charge back in 2009.
"We've got to go to the Scarlets and win and we've got to beat Treviso here, both of which are difficult tasks in different ways.
"We needed to win today if we wanted to control the group, top the pool and potentially be at home in the quarter finals.
"The likelihood is that whatever happens we'll have to travel in the quarter finals if we get that far. But we've got to go to the Scarlets and beat them first, so there's a long way to go yet."
Cockerill refused to blame Billy Twelvetrees for the dropped points after the young fly-half missed two vital kicks late on that would have effectively secured the win.
The second was a difficult long-range effort but the first was a straightforward strike from less than 20 metres out and almost directly in front of the posts.
"Kickers win you games, they don't lose you games," added Cockerill.
"I think the one in front of the posts that hit the post, you've got to kick those because they're sitters. But when you go for long shots, you go for long shots. Today it wasn't Billy's day but it's not his fault.
"Billy's kicked his goals in previous games and won us games so you have to keep faith in him. He has to develop and work through those issues and do it in big games.
"Sometimes it comes off and sometimes it doesn't. That's life sometimes."
