Cardiff City Stadium will host Sunday's Heineken Cup Round 3, Pool 6 match between Newport Gwent Dragons and London Wasps after the Rodney Parade pitch was deemed unfit for use this weekend.
WRU official Dai Davies, along with representatives of Newport Gwent Dragons, inspected the Rodney Parade pitch today (Thursday, 9 December) and decided that due to the current adverse weather conditions it would not be in a safe enough condition for the game to go ahead there on Sunday, 12 December.
Bad weather forced the Dragons to move their Heineken Cup Pool game against Biarritz Olympique from Rodney Parade to Parc y Scarlets last season. The change of venue this weekend is the only alteration with the 1.00pm kick-off and the broadcast coverage remaining the same.
The venue for this season's Amlin Challenge Cup final on Friday, 20 May, 2011, Cardiff City Stadium is the new home of Cardiff Blues and Cardiff City has already staged one Heineken Cup match this season when the Blues beat Edinburgh in Round 1.
