Andy Robinson has been left sweating on the injuries of seven of his players ahead of the visit of world champions South Africa to Murrayfield on Saturday.
Scotland struggled against New Zealand at the weekend, going down 49-3 but Robinson now faces a further headache with a growing injury list.
The game was ended early by referee Dave Pearson as Max Evans was stretchered from the season with a serious shoulder injury.
Evans, whose brother Thom suffered a career-ending neck injury against Wales in last season's Six Nations, thankfully was back on his feet in the changing rooms after the match but will face further a medical examination later this week.
Captain Mike Blair was forced from the field before half time with a head injury, adding to the injury woes at scrum half with Chris Cusiter and Rory Lawson also sidelined.
Gloucester prop Alasdair Dickinson has a shoulder injury while Richie Gray picked up a dead leg and John Barcklay has an ankle concern.
