London Wasps will have to launch their Heineken Cup campaign without the services of England and British & Irish Lions prop Tim Payne.
Payne pleaded guilty to two offences from the Aviva Premiership match against Gloucester at Kingsholm on 25 September and received a week long ban for each. He was cited for stamping on second row Jim Hamilton and for striking another Gloucester forward, Brett Deacon.
The two week ban means Payne will miss the re-run of the 2004 Heineken Cup final in Toulouse on Sunday and will also have to sit out Wasps' first home game in Pool 6 against Glasgow Warriors a week later.
Deacon will also find himself on the sidelines this weekend after admitting striking Payne in the same match. The former Leicester Tigers player, who played in the 2007 Heineken Cup final at Twickenham, will miss Gloucester's Amlin Challenge Cup opener against Top 14 side Agen at Stade Armandie on Friday night.
