"I've heard so much about Thomond Park's match day atmosphere on Heineken Cup day," said Dougall.

"The lads have told me it's hairs on the back of the neck kind of stuff, so I'm just hoping I get to experience that this Sunday.

"The whole occasion is just meant to be unbelievable and we just need to focus on the task ahead of us, getting the win!"

Munster will be without talisman and fly half Ronan O'Gara, who has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, for the visit of the Scottish side who are looking to kickstart their own campaign after a one-side 45-0 demolition by Saracens.

Dougall admits Munster, the former Heineken Cup winners in 2006 and 2008. will not be taking the visit of their fellow Pro12 outfit and last season's semi-finalists lightly.

"It's the Heineken Cup this time, so everything's so much more intense and teams are just so up for it," said Dougall.

"Edinburgh had a bit of a loss at the weekend against Saracens and I'm sure they'll be firing on all cylinders to prove a point.

"But for us it will be nice just to be at home again after being on the road for three weeks.

"So if I get the chance to be involved it would be great, playing in Thomond Park in the Heineken Cup is what you dream of."

Edinburgh's defeat to Saracens was the fifth time the Scots were held scoreless in Europe.

The 45-0 loss to Saracens was also their worst ever European defeat.

Munster have lost their last two Heineken Cup games and have slipped to three straight defeats in all competitions this season.

The Irishmen have only ever lost two home pool games in the Heineken Cup: 32-37 to Cardiff RFC on 27 September 1997 (Musgrave Park), 6-13 to Leicester on 20 January 2007.

Edinburgh have never won in Ireland in the Heineken Cup. They drew with Ulster and Leinster on their first two visits, but have lost the five matches since.
