Jamie Roberts could miss the remainder of the Pool Stages after fracturing his skull in the international with Australia last Saturday.
Medical assessment suggests a six-week lay off is likely, and with rounds five and taking place in the second half on January, Roberts' participation is in question.
The Cardiff Blues utility back was involved in a shuddering collision with Australian captain Sterling Mortlock in only the second minute of the final game of the Invesco Perpetual autumn series.
The Millennium Stadium echoed with the force of the midfield smash when the two collided in an accidental clash.
Both players took time to recover and while Roberts was able to get back to his feet and return to the fray, Mortlock wasn't so fortunate and had to leave the pitch.
Roberts bravely continued on in a full-blooded contest but he had to leave the pitch in the 17th minute. He was immediately taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with a fractured skull.
