Alan Quinlan will serve the three-week ban imposed upon him by a Six Nations Disciplinary committee this week.
Quinlan had his appeal turned down today by The IRB appointed Appeal Committee, consisting of Jeremy Summers (England, Chair), Terry Vaux (Wales) and Malcolm Philips (England) considered the various points raised by the player and his representatives and the Appeal Committee decided to dismiss the appeal and therefore the three-week suspension remains in effect.
The Munster and Ireland flanker was judged to have committed an act of foul play in the Ireland v New Zealand match on Saturday 15 November, and appealed the three-week suspension imposed by the IRB's Judicial Officer for the match, Professor Lorne Crerar, on Wednesday 19 November.
This means he will play no part in his side's meeting with ASM Clermont Auvergne in Round 3.
