Stephen Jones reckons the Scarlets can pull off a shock in Paris and avoid a ninth successive European defeat.
Wales fly-half Jones watched on in horror at Stradey Park as the Welsh region crashed to a Heineken Cup defeat against Harlequins having led 19-3.
The Scarlets now face a big mountain to qualify in Pool 4 but despite this, Jones insists they can spring a surprise against French giants Stade Francais today (Sat).
Jones said: "Stade are having a great season and flying high. They have a great squad and it will be a huge challenge.
"But if we play like the first half, we have a great chance."
Stade have won their last 16 matches at the Stade Jean Bouin and the Scarlets' hope of a miracle have been dented with injuries to locks Vernon Cooper, Simon Maling and Lou Reed.
Rookie Dominic Day has been drafted in while Martin Roberts replaces Sililo Martens at scrum-half.
