It was a good weekend for Welsh sides in the PARKER PEN CHALLENGE CUP.
Bridgend edged out Bath 28-26 in the first leg their round 2 tie at the Brewery field, and Pontypridd beat Leeds Tykes by 37-23 at Sardis Road.
At Bridgend, a late penalty goal from Craig Warlow took his points total to a lucky 13, and gave the Ravens the victory with the last kick of a highly entertaining match.
Bridgend captain Gareth Thomas received the man of the match award, after he helped himself to two tries, and was at the centre of much of Bridgend's attacking play. Prop Christian Loader scored Bridgend's other try.
While at 'The House of Pain', Pontypridd served notice of their intent with an impressive 14 point victory.
Wales international centre Sonny parker opened the scoring with after just three minutes, and another just before half time, add to that as sprinkling of Brett Davey Penalty goals, and Ponty went in 24-13 at the interval.
Gareth Wyatt scored the third Pontypridd try in the second period, to give the Valley Commandoes an unassailable lead.
Feaunati's second try made things interesting, but a yellow card to Leeds winger Chris Hall gave Pontypridd flanker Richard Parks the chance to go over from a lineout and at 37-20 with 15 minutes left on the clock, the game was over.
In the last play of the game, Leeds opted for the shot at goal, reducing by three points the margin they have to overcome in the return match next weekend.
