A collection of quotes after Round 3 of the Heineken Cup...
NORTHAMPTON 25 - CARDIFF 11
Northampton coach Wayne Smith: "Cardiff came to Northampton to play. They had a good win in Edinburgh the previous week and were quality opposition. They were tough.
"Our scrum and lineout improved from the win in Leicester, but we have to give Cardiff credit.
"They are such a great club and there is such a big tradition between us they will front-up next Sunday. I'm sure they'll be up for it.
"We pride ourselves on defence, but it wasn't water-tight. But bear in mind Cardiff have some very quick runners. We found their outside backs difficult - they are quick and Rhys Williams is sensational.
NEWPORT 16 - LONDON IRISH 12
London Irish coach Connor O'Shea: "Next week against Newport we must finish off the chances we are creating,"
"I am not taking away anything from Newport. From their perspective they are not going to look at little things like rolling away from the ball.
"They managed to stop us playing and have got the win.
"You don't mind being outplayed or beaten by a better side but I thought we had enough possession to win plenty of games.
GLOUCESTER 33 - PERPIGNAN 16
Gloucester director Nigel Melville: "It's going to be a very difficult game next week, but we can't wait to go to Perpignan.
There's an enormous amount of people travelling from Gloucester and I'm sure it'll be a fantastic European occasion."
BEZIERS 24-LEICESTER 12
Leicester director of Rugby Dean Richards: "Bezier are a good side - not many teams walk away from here with a victory.
"We wanted to play a fast game because we knew they would try to slow things up.
"We found it difficult to play rugby at times because Beziers were very strong in the scrums and the set pieces.
"The players performed well. Last week's loss to Northampton was more my fault - I got the selection wrong. I'm pleased with the performance today."
ULSTER 13 BIARRITZ 9
"France are the third-best country in world rugby and Biarritz are the French champions," said Ulster coach Alan Solomons.
"Ireland are the sixth-best side and Ulster only have one representative in the national side. "When you look at it in those terms, you begin to appreciate the magnitude of our victory.
"Our forwards were simply magnificent, "
"We will now prepare for what should be an almighty challenge next week in Biarritz."
