Montferrand will be without French international backs Tony Marsh and Aurélien Rougerie, when the club takes on Celtic League champions Leinster Lions in Rounds 3 and 4 of the Heineken Cup.
Marsh was forced to pull out of France's autumn series squad due to persistent groin problems, and has since undergone two operations in an attempt to remedy the injury. New Zealand born Marsh will be out of action for another two and a half months - meaning he will miss all of Montferrand's remaining Heineken Cup Pool matches.
Rougerie will also be unavailable for Heineken Cup selection The wing who has undergone two operations on his oesophagus after suffering a larynx injury in a friendly match against Wasps in August, will be out for another month.
Other players on Montferrand's injury list include French international full-back Jimmy Marlu (back), prop Stéphane Delpuech (calf), Sébastien Boboul (knee), Laurent Soucaze (shoulder), Dave Von Hoesslin (back), Willy Taofifenua (knee) and Elvis Vermeulen (knee).
However, the coaching staff have been given some positive news - Troy Jacques and Johnny Ngaumo are both fully recovered from their respective knocks and will be fit for selection.
Montferrand travel to the south-west corner of France to take on reigning French champions Biarritz this weekend (Saturday) where they will hope to pull off a shock win in Pool One of the French Championship
