Edinburgh struck first blood in the new professional tournament in Scotland devised to rank their three District teams for the Heineken Cup next season.
Two tries from front row man Allan Jacobsen spearheaded Todd Blackadder's men to an impressive 29-13 win at Meadowbank in the first Bank of Scotland Pro Rugby Cup match. Each of the three teams - The Borders are the other one - will play each other four times.
Brendan Laney backed up Jacobsen's tries with four penalties and two conversions for a match haul of 16 points. Duncan Hodge also chipped in with a penalty to complete the scoring.
Fellow Celtic League quarter-finalists Glasgow could only muster a try from skipper Jon Petrie and eight points from the boot of Calvin Howarth
