ERC can confirm that the Federation Française de Rugby (FFR) has withdrawn its application to host the 2014 Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup finals, due to the ongoing uncertainty regarding the availability of the Stade de France.
Martin Johnson's defending champions were held to a 16-16 draw at Neath last Friday and De Carli is wary of a backlash.
"It is our second year participating in the Heineken Cup but it doesn't get any easier," said the Italian international prop. "It wasn't easy against Béziers last Saturday and travelling to Leicester is another challenge again.
"We have an extremely difficult Pool again this year but our objective is to produce good performances and to win at least one match. That has to be our aim as we haven't got any wins under our belt yet.
"It would certainly make things a lot easier if we were able to get a win now and again but we are playing against the best teams in Europe so it is hugely instructive to get this kind of experience.
"We felt we played well at Leicester last year - we received compliments for our play - but it will probably be even harder this time around.
"I don't think the fact that Leicester drew at Neath means they've dropped a level at all because from what I've heard about Neath they are a very strong team.
"We have been going very well in the Italian championship - we've won all our games - and we never let up, so we will give all our games our best shot."
