Alessandro Moscardi captained Rugby Treviso to a home win over Castres Olympique but expects the Round 1 Second Leg trip to France to be a major test.
"We're obviously satisfied with our victory over last year's Heineken Cup semi-finalists, but we know it will be different altogether when we go to Castres.
"We were pleased with our game on Saturday - both sides produced a quality performance but every game has its own story to tell so we're not jumping any guns.
"We will try to improve our level of play again and play to our potential.
"There is a 13-point margin but you can't go into a game with a view to keeping the points to minimum - it doesn't work like that. You have to play to win and see where you stand at the end of the match.
"It is true that while we have had a number of wins in European competition, we haven't yet gone on to the next round. We will do our best but our only thought at the moment is Saturday's game - we will think about what comes next after that. We are very determined to do well but there is no point looking beyond our next match at present."
