Gregor Townsend will head back to France in early December for the first leg of Round 2 of the PARKER PEN CHALLENGE CUP with some valuable inside knowledge for the Borders.
The newly formed Borders, playing in Europe for the first time, travel to Montauban - a team Townsend faced twice last season when he was a Castres Olympique player.
"I know a bit about them after those two games and they are a solid side," said the Lions and Scotland fly half.
"Just like the football teams in Europe, it is nice to get the away leg over first and then play in front of your own crowd so the draw suits us fine.
"There is a place in next season's Heineken Cup up for grabs for the PARKER PEN CHALLENGE CUP winners so we want to go as far as possible in the tournament."
