Three French legends tell ercrugby.com that the all-French Heineken Cup final is great for their country ...
Philippe Saint-André (former French captain and Gloucester coach, current Bourgoin coach): 'It's a very good thing for French rugby and its clubs to have two teams in the Heineken Cup final.
'It means Europe's best team and champion will be French and it's a good thing. French rugby is getting better and better - it's full of promis a few monthes before the World Cup.
'I hope it's a great game. I think it's an important thing to have a great quality match between two great teams.'
Alain Penaud (former Brive captain and the last French captain to lift the trophy, after Brive's win over Leicester in 1997): 'French clubs proved they can compete with the best in European rugby. Toulouse were very impressive in the semi-finals and it could be very difficult for Perpignan. The point is, the Heineken Cup will be back in France, and it shows how French rugby is getting better and better, even if I think it could progress faster.'
Serge Blanco (former French fullback with 93 caps, current president of the French Professionnal League): 'I believe it's the product of all the work that has been done for the last five years. We are now tasting the fruits from the seeds sowed a few years ago.
"The final gives French rugby the opportunity to be recognised. We've been saying for a long time that we were equal with Irish and English teams, but with our final results, we looked a little silly. But this season, our clubs have won in England and Ireland which means our rugby is rich with talents.
"I will be in Dublin on Saturday, but I will have no favourite team. This Heineken Cup final will be true rugby fireworks.
