It's down to the wire now for the five contenders who have been shortlisted for the ultimate individual accolade in northern hemisphere rugby, ERC European Player of the Year 2013.




Saisset has been at the club for three years already and has maintained an excellent success rate, Perpignan winning their French championship Pool last season and this year reaching the Heineken Cup quarter-finals and championship play-offs.

He said, "I was offered a new contract on Sunday. As the players wanted me to stay and apparently with the kind of majority Jacques Chirac had in the second round of the recent presidential elections, I had no reason to hesitate. If I gave up coaching, I have a teaching job waiting for me. But I still get a lot out of being on the field."

Perpignan have qualified for the Heineken Cup quarter-finals on just one pervious occasion. In the 1998/9 season they beat Llanelli 34-17 in the quarter-final before narrowly losing 10-6 to Colomiers in a tense semi-final at the Stade Toulouse
This season they finished top of the tough Pool 2, with four wins from six games.
