Ian Balshaw looks set to be fit for the decisive second leg of the PARKER PEN CHALLENGE CUP semi-final against Saracens at the Rec on Saturday.
The full back has been out of action since January with shoulder damage but has made excellent progress and coach Brian Smith believes that he could well be in the frame to play against Saracens.
"Balsh will definitely be fit for the Saracens semi-final," said Smith. "He is ready and is eager to get back involved."
Bath Rugby need to overhaul an eight-point deficit if they are to reach their first final since lifting the Heineken Cup in 1998 and Smith believes that, despite the deficit, his side will be approaching the game as they would any other.
"We have to understand that we are eight points down, but it is also an eighty-minute match so we are not going to try and make up those eight points from the opening whistle," he said.
"Like any contest there is a mental side to the game as well and we feel that if we put enough pressure on Saracens we can hit them down both physically and mentally, but that is not going to happen in the first quarter of an hour.
"We are expecting it to go the full 80 minutes, but we are confident that we will be more than eight points up, but the way in which we approach it is the same as we would any other match."
