Agen have become the first French qualifier for next season's Heineken Cup, by beating Perpignan 18-6 in front of a capacity crowd at Stade Armandie.
Agen notched up their twelfth successive French Championship win as they beat the Heineken Cup quarter-finalists in a highly-charged and tightly-fought match, Their only defeat of the season so far came at the hands of Narbonne in Round 1.
"It means a lot of things to have finally qualified for the Heineken Cup," said Agen captain Jean-Jacques Crenca.
"It is the accumulation of three or four years' work. Sometimes we got very close but at least we are now going to taste the Heineken Cup and enjoy what others enjoy. We have finally got there and the qualification comes with a huge sense of satisfaction. After 12 wins on the trot, I think it is deserved.
And with Heineken Cup qualification in the bag, the French international prop must now turn his attention to the forthcoming Six Nations.
"We have to forget about the Heineken Cup for now though and think about other things. But when the time comes we will prepare for the competition thoroughly and properly, as the competition merits.
"As for the French team, it's straight back to work to prepare for a very tough match against England next Saturday. We must go there without any complexes.
"England are going to be champing at the bit - last year we caused them a few problems in the front row so it us up to us to be up for the challenge.
"Defence will be crucial and turnover ball instrumental. Let the best team win!"
