ERC have been informed by Federacion Espanola de Rugby that La Moraleja Alcobendas will not be able to compete in the European Challenge Cup tournament next season (2003 / 2004) due to financial difficulties and that they have withdrawn from the tournament.
ERC have accepted the FER decision, which is supported by documentation from the club's representatiave body, ACR, and ERC have accepted the FER proposals regarding the Spanish teams who will play in the European Challenge Cup 2003 / 2004.
VRAC (Valladolid) will now move up a position to take the place of La Moraleja Alcobendas. VRAC will play Newcastle Falcons home and away in Round 1 of the tournament.
UE Santboiana (Barcelona), who finished fifth in the Spanish League, will now join UCM 2012 in Round 1 of the European Shield.
The Spanish teams taking part in Round 1 of the European Challenge Cup 2003 / 2004 will be: El Salvador and VRAC.
The Spanish teams taking part in Round 1 of the European Shield 2003 / 2004 will be: UCM 2012 and UE Santboiana.
