The Borders travel to France on Friday to play Agen in the Heineken Cup, the biggest match yet faced by Tony Gilbert's side in their second season.
"Qualifying for the Heineken in our first year was a major achievement," said Tony Gilbert, "and the reward is that we now find ourselves in world club rugby's most prestigious tournament.
'We have some huge games coming up and while our focus week-in week-out is on the Celtic League, we're going to look forward to these European Cup games, make them big occasions and try to enjoy the experience. And as ever we'll be going all out to win them."
The Borders are keen to bounce back from their defeat away to Ulster on Friday. Following that match The Borders confirmed this morning that they have cited the prop Rob Kempson after an alleged head butting incident against flanker Dan Kane towards the end of the match.
Tony Gilbert explained however that the incident was not indicative of a violent meeting. He commented,
"It was not a violent game and it was very well refereed so this was an isolated incident. Dan Kane was groggy but he was able to play on. We felt it was a citing offence and so we have cited the player - it's now up to the Irish Rugby Union to decide whether they feel it was a punishable offence."
