The 2002-03 season was one of success for Lee, who firmly established himself as understudy to Jonathan Humphreys at hooker. He made eighteen appearances (16 as substitute), gaining more game time than in any other season since joining the Club from Colstons School in 1998.
Jack Rowell believes that the hooker will have a golden opportunity over the next couple of seasons to fulfil his promise as a starting number two.
"Lee has an excellent opportunity over the next couple of seasons with Bath Rugby. He showed steady improvement throughout last season due to the additional game time that he played. His footballing ability and pace around the field makes Lee an excellent impact player when entering a game after 60 minutes-as he has proven for us over the past season."
"The next two years will be a critical time in Lee's career. He needs to have the opportunity to show that he is indeed a player of Zurich Premiership capability. We believe that he has this potential, but it is up to Lee to show it."
Lee said that he was pleased to have signed a new contract with Bath Rugby and is looking forward to challenging for a regular starting place in the Zurich Premiership and the PARKER PEN CHALLENGE CUP next season.
"I am pleased to have signed a new contract with the Club," explained Lee. "I have been with Bath Rugby since 1998 and very much regard it as my home. Therefore a move anywhere else was never on the cards. I am really looking forward to next season in the Zurich Premiership and a chance to fight for a starting place in what looks like being an extremely competitive front row."
