It's down to the wire now for the five contenders who have been shortlisted for the ultimate individual accolade in northern hemisphere rugby, ERC European Player of the Year 2013.
Glasgow need to beat the PARKER PEN SHIELD champions at Heywood Road match to keep in the hunt for a Heineken Cup quarter-final berth.
Glasgow have beaten Sale already this season, winning the Round 2 Heineken match at Hughenden by 26-14 in October.
This will be White's first game for Glasgow since he was concussed during Scotland's international against Fiji at Murrayfield in November, the final match of the autumn Test Series. His return to the team was delayed as he has been suffering with for a back-muscle injury.
During his absence Glasgow have won only one of the six matches they have played. That, however, was crucially the Heineken Cup tie against Bourgoin at Hughenden four weeks ago, when the 13-12 victory kept Glasgow in contention in Europe.
Two recently absent props, Lee Harrison and Cameron Blades, also resume in the Glasgow squad on Friday. Harrison, who missed the 21-6 defeat by the Borders at Netherdale on Hogmanay because of a back-muscle injury, will be in his accustomed role at tight head whereas Blades will be the replacement prop. A leg injury has kept him out of the squad since the Celtic League quarter-final against Ulster on 30 November.
In all, five changes in personnel have been made in the team who started the Hogmanay match - White for Opeta Palepoi at lock, Harrison for Andrew Kelly at tight head, Tommy Hayes for Howarth at stand-off, Andrew Henderson for Joe Naufahu at centre, and Jon Steel for Roland Reid on the wing. However, Hayes and Henderson played as second-half replacements at Netherdale.
