Scotland international Martin Leslie will not be playing Heineken Cup Rugby this season for Edinburgh after being informed by his club that he will not get a new contract .
The flanker's current deal expires on November 30, and the Scottish side have elected not to renew it for financial reasons a club statements says.
Edinburgh chief executive Jim McKenzie said: 'We would be delighted to be able to keep Martin at the club but the stark financial reality is that we do not have the funds to do so.
'Whilst with Edinburgh, Martin has been an exemplary professional and has given a lot to the club. He will be a loss to the squad both on and off the field.'
Leslie was sent home from the World Cup last month after receiving a 12-week ban when he was found guilty of kneeing Jason Keyter in the head during Scotland's win against the USA.
The Scottish Rugby Union appealed and Leslie's ban was reduced to eight weeks.
