New signing Simon Danielli has been named in The Borders squad for the European Challenge Cup. The Scotland wing is included in a 32-strong squad, that will taste first action in Portugal where The Borders play Coimbra on Saturday 23 October.
Commenting on the arrival of Danielli at The Borders, head coach Steve Bates said : "We're obviously delighted that Simon has come to The Borders but this is merely part of the overall drive to strenghten Scottish rugby.
"He has played Zurich Premiership rugby and so comes to us with a great deal of experience particularly in defence. Simon is a strong player and will be a potent weapon for us in attack" added Bates.
Poised to make a return to action in European competition is centre Stephen Cranston, now almost fully recovered from the knee injury he sustained on Scotland's summer tour.
