Connacht have announced that Andrew Farley will be their new captain for the coming season.
The 24-year-old second row, who is about to start his second season with the province, performed brilliantly throughout last season playing in 30 of the 32 games. Farley was a key figure in Connacht's progress in the Celtic Cup and the Parker Pen Challenge Cup.
'It is a privilege, especially when you consider the players who have been in the role before me. It is a great opportunity and an added responsibility.'
New Connacht manager and former captain Tim Allnutt is confident the new Captain will be a great success.
'Andrew showed last year that he is a player capable of leading the side. He has great potential and I think he will make the most of this opportunity.
'He was a very honest hard working player last season and I think we will see the same from him this season. He will bring the best out of others around him.'
Having reached two semi finals in last season's campaign. Next season Connacht will be anxious to go one step further this season. Farley agrees
'Absolutely, it will be one of our main goals. After going so well it was so disappointing to lose to Harlequins over the two legs. We are determined to make amends this year.'
