The Heineken Cup Pool Stage has reached the halfway mark, with many pulsating matches and remarkable results...
Pool 1, dubbed the 'Pool of death' is still wide open, with defending champions
London Wasps just one point ahead of
Biarritz Olympique and two-times Heineken Cup holders
Leicester Tigers.
But four teams have proved unbeatable so far in the competition, first up is Pool 2 side Leinster. Their 92-17 demolition of Bourgoin means they lead their Pool by four points from surprise package Benetton Treviso, who registered their second win this season when they beat Bath 29-23.
In Pool 3 Northampton Saints shrugged off poor domestic form to record an historic win over double Heineken Cup winners Toulouse. That means they leapfrog the French side, and top their pool. Llanelli Scarlets have a mountain to climb with just six points from their three games.
In Pool 4, Castres Olympique and Munster are battling for supremacy, next weekend's return match at Thomond Park will be crucial. The Neath-Swansea Ospreys managed their first win in the competition against winless NEC Harlequins - the holders of the European Challenge Cup.
Rob Andrew's Newcastle Falcons are three from three in Pool 5, but will be looking over their shoulder at a Newport Gwent Dragons side that seem to be growing in confidence with every game.
Current French champions Stade Francais have won every game in this season's Heineken Cup, and as a result head-up Pool 6. Only Gloucester look capable of catching them, but they face a tough match against the Cardiff Blues at the Arms Park next weekend.
Round 4 of the tenth Heineken Cup kicks-off next weekend, and there is still hope for the majority of the 24 teams competing in the competition.
