Eric Elwood and Gregor Townsend will renew old rivalries when they meet up at the Sportsground, Galwey in the second round of the European Challenge Cup.
The two former international outside halves know a lot about each other having first met on the international stage on 5 March, 1994.
On that occasion the 31-year-old Scotsman, Townsend, shared the honours with his 35-year-old Irish rival as the then Five Nations Championship match at Lansdowne Road ended in a 6-6 draw.
Elwood managed to kick all of Ireland's points on that day and was on target with a penalty and conversion two years later in Dublin when the pair met again.
But it was the men in blue who were smiling at the end of the day in 1996 as Scotland claimed a 16-10 victory. Who will come out on top over the two legs of this season's enthralling European Challenge Cup clash between Connacht and Montpellier? Watch this space!
