ERC can confirm that the Federation Française de Rugby (FFR) has withdrawn its application to host the 2014 Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup finals, due to the ongoing uncertainty regarding the availability of the Stade de France.
"It means that we will go to France in a positive frame of mind and intent on playing some rugby against a very talented side. They have got huge names and it will be a massive challenge for us but we are looking forward to both legs.
"They have got a very physical pack and some lively backs and it is not so much a case of identifying their strengths but more the areas where they are strongest because they have class players all through the team.
"But we will not be going out just to try and keep the score down for the Second Leg - that would be a disaster. We have to try and retain possession and put them under pressure early on by taking the game to them.
"Our problem is that we have several injuries and, at the moment, we have only 21 fully fit players - although we can meet the front row requirements. It is our back five that is hard hit. Wayne McEntee broke a hand and Scott Gray picked up a hamstring injury in Friday's win while Andy Renwick has a knee injury.
"The good news is that Chris Cusiter, who was forced off in Scotland's match against South Africa on Saturday after taking a whack on the head is fine. He was only dazed and recovered very quickly and Simon Danielli was back last weekend and looking really good."
