France will be represented in the Heineken Cup final at Twickenham on Sunday, 23 May - but the winner-takes-all contest at Stade Chaban-Delmas in Bordeaux on Saturday, 24 April will determine whether it is double champions Toulouse or semi-finals newcomers Biarritz Olympique gracing the big stage.
And Toulouse head coach Guy Noves has moved swiftly to claim the underdog tag. "Biarritz are, without a doubt, favourites at the moment," he said
"I was impressed by Biarritz in the quarter-finals at Llanelli on Friday night, but it wasn't for the first time. I saw their match against Sale and I feel they have reached a new level this season. They also led us a merry dance in our away-leg Championship game, winning 37-20.
' Our average performance against Edinburgh Rugby proves that they are ahead of us and are favourites for the match. From now on, every day will bring us something new."
Toulouse No 8 Christian Labit, man of the match against Edinburgh Rugby, added: "I would have preferred to meet a foreign side in the semi-finals because we know Biarritz so well.
"They are a team capable of making the other team make mistakes. They are a difficult team to play against - they adapt well to the needs of the match they are playing and take advantage of their strong times during the game.
"I know Alain Paco, the Biarritz assistant coach, very well, and I have an idea of what he will be planning for us! There are no easy options in the semi-final of the Heineken Cup.
"I wasn't surprised by the Biarritz result. They are very strong up front and if a team causes problems up front they are well on their way. We have to congratulate Biarritz and prepare for the semi-final in Bordeaux accordingly."
