Biarritz Olympique will be breaking new ground in Bordeaux after making it third time lucky in winning through from the quarter-final stage.
The French side rolled over Llanelli Scarlets in their own yard with a domineering 27-10 victory. This head turning show has paved the way for a semi-final with current cup holdersToulouse.
"It will be a fantastic occasion," said Patrice Lagisquet, the joint Biarritz Olympique coach.
"We will obviously not be favourites because Toulouse are current Heineken Cup champions but I love playing against Toulouse because each team puts everything into the match.
"And at the end of the semi-final there will be a French team in the Heineken Cup final - which is great for France. Not long ago, French teams were lagging behind but they have now made up for it. There were two French teams in the final last year and one this time.
"For me, Toulouse are a model side. Their appetite for victory and titles, the balance they manage to maintain between youngsters and experienced players and the way they progress each season without any great upheaval is an example to follow.
"As for Biarritz Olympique, I feel we are becoming more consistent. Against Llanelli Scarlets, we were able to play our game very well, which is positive. The coaches and players are excited at the thought of the semi-final - especially in Bordeaux, with the ground half filled by Toulouse supporters and half by Pays Basque partisans."
