London Wasps flanker and talisman, Paul Volley, will leave to the club at the end of this season and will be joining the French side Castres Olympique. Volley joined the club at the age of 16 in 1988, and has been instrumental in helping Wasps secure numerous titles.
Volley, who scored Wasps' second try in last weekend's Heineken Cup semi-final said, "I've been at Wasps for almost half my life and there comes a time when you need a change. I've had a fantastic time here having won two Tetley's and two League Cups and now possibly a Heineken Cup. I feel I need a new challenge and France offers that."
"When the offer came up, I spoke to my wife Jo, who is pregnant with our second child, and we both decided it was a great idea. The two-year contract I've signed with Castres could possibly be the last two years of my career.
"Wasps is a fantastic club and we've done some wonderful things over the years and it will be sad to leave. I have two outstanding things in my career; one of them is the Heineken Cup, the other a full England cap. Being realistic my chances of winning the Heineken Cup is more a possibility now that we've reached the final".
England and Wasps' captain Lawrence Dallaglio said, " Paul is a wonderful person and good friend. When I joined Wasps, he was my U19 captain and since then we've played and seen a lot together. He's been a great player and servant to Wasps and not having him in the backrow will be a little strange."
