Montferrand take on Zurich Premiership pacesetters Bath Rugby at the Recreation Ground on Saturday in the first leg of their Parker Pen Challenge Cup semi-final with coach Alain Hyardet delighted to be involved in cross-border competition again.
"The Parker Pen Challenge Cup matches have, so far, enabled us to bounce back in the French Championship and it will be a huge pleasure when we return to the tournament on Saturday," said Hyardet.
"We will forget about all our championship worries this week and throw ourselves totally into the Parker Pen Challenge Cup - it is tremendous that the winner will get a place in the Heineken Cup next season.
"It is not quite all over for us trying to get into the French Championship play-offs, but our fate is no longer in our own hands. In the Parker Pen Challenge Cup it is a different matter, it is down to us as to how far we progress in the tournament.
"Losing at Colomiers on Saturday was a big blow to our play-off hopes so now it is even more important to play well in Parker Pen Challenge Cup.
"But we do not look at it as extra pressure because we have performed very well against English teams in the competition and we will be looking to do the same against Bath.
"It is a privilege to play the top English team and we will be aiming to produce a good performance over there. We feel it is an advantage to be playing away first - as long as we can set up the home leg.
"Bath have got a fantastic back line - Mike Catt, Olly Barkley, Mike Tindall and Matt Perry - and also very good back row.
"We will have to be right up to the mark in defence and retain possession because they will take every opportunity to counter attack."
