Scottish skipper Chris Paterson is hoping for something special to help celebrate his 100th professional appearance for Edinburgh Rugby when they make history by becoming the first Scottish side to feature in the last eight of the Heineken Cup against holders Toulouse on Saturday.
Their quarter-final assignment at a jam packed Stadium Municipal in Toulouse against the reigning Heineken Cup champions will be a tough one, but Paterson can't wait to get stuck into the challenge.
"There's no better atmosphere than playing in front of 36,000 people in Toulouse and there's no better occasion to commemorate your 100h game than in ultimately the biggest match in this club's short history. It's going to be pretty special for me," said Paterson, who has been selected on the wing.
"I'm really proud and honoured to reach one hundred games for Edinburgh. It's something you think you'll never ever achieve as an amateur player - your aim is to sign a contract and then three or four years down the line you find yourself running out for your hundredth appearance."
Edinburgh coach frank Hadden knows his side are massive underdogs going into the game - the home side have lost only three times and drawn once in 28 Heineken Cup matches played in Toulouse -
but have already toppled the champions once this season at Meadowbank.
"We are going into this match as underdogs and we relish that role. Edinburgh have now played 32 games in Europe and in only a small handful of these games have we been favourites to win, yet we have had 16 victories," said Hadden.
"I think that is a tremendous record. We're good in the underdog role and we are looking forward to playing in that role again this weekend."
Hadden has Paterson, Tom Philip and Dougie Hall back in action after injury niggles, but will be without Simon Taylor and Andrew Dall. But the good news is that skipper Todd Blackadder is raring to go after sitting out the Six Nations while helping to coach Scotland and recovering from a shoulder operation.
Blackadder will figure at blindside flanker in a back row that sees Allister Hogg switch to No 8 and Simon Cross fill the openside duties. Nathain Hines and Scott Murray form an all-international second row pairing, while Brendan Laney plays at outside half after playing at centre during the Six Nations.
