Fantasy rugby proves tough for top names

The first weekend of Heineken Cup Fantasy Rugby certainly sorted the men from the boys. Some of the game's greatest players found that managing a team, albeit a fantasy one, is not as easy it seems.

Just take Gareth Edwards for example. Arguably the World's greatest player of all time, he finds himself languishing one off the bottom of the Celebrity League after Round 1.

What's more, he admitted in his weekly column in Wales' national newspaper, The Western Mail, that choosing a team was a lot harder than he had thought.

"I thought I'd be picking my Dream Team - Brian O'Driscoll, Gordon D'Arcy, Gareth Thomas and Jonny Wilkinson. But instead I found I had used all my points on my backline," said Edwards.

"In the end, I had to have some help from my two sons to work out my team - and it didn't have a very good first weekend."

So much for the great Gareth! Only Irish based coach Brent Pope finished beneath him after Round 1 - and Sky TV's main commentator Miles Harrison and former Heineken Cup winner Ieuan Evans weren't far ahead of him either.

Scottish international Andy Nicol, who led Bath to Heineken Cup glory in 1998, fared a little better, but top of the pile among the celebrities after Round 1 is Munster legend Peter Clohessy.

His team piled on the points, no doubt spurred on by his notorious hard-man image.

'Forever England' tops the overall league, with 144 points.
