Rovigo fullback Cristian Sauan bagged a brace of tries as the Italian club steam-rolled Spanish minnows Cetransa El Salvador 48-13 at Stadio Battaglini.
Rovigo scored six tries in the one-sided affair, with fly-half Andrea Scanavacca getting one of them and kicking 18 points, with the visitors' only
try coming from winger Santiago Toca.
Fellow Italian club L'Aquila were given a fright by Spanish side UE Santboiana, who led 19-7 at the break, but the trusty boot of fly-half German Cagnolo (20 points) rescued the home side's blushes in their 36-22 victory.
Spanish international fullback Marc Ventura opened the try-scoring and Santboiana fly-half Alfons Martinez slotted the goals as L'Aquila began slowly, but a dressing-down from coach Jean-Michel Vuilleman worked as the Italian
favourites dominated the second 40 minutes.
