It's down to the wire now for the five contenders who have been shortlisted for the ultimate individual accolade in northern hemisphere rugby, ERC European Player of the Year 2013.
"We were desperate to pick up a bonus point at Calvisano on Saturday but it wasn't to be," he said. "We now know that we have to win at the Celtic Warriors and at home to Wasps in order to qualify.
"The competition is even tougher this season - there are no easy matches anymore, everyone has strengthened their squads for the Heineken Cup in particular.
"Celtic Warriors impressed us in our home match. They have an excellent backline and their forwards pose a constant challenge because they have the bulk and yet are also very mobile. They took time to gel after the World Cup but now they are a very strong Welsh team, very much in Llanelli's mould.
"We know it will be difficult but we won at Llanelli in last year's quarter-finals and that experience will give us a lot of confidence in our capabilities. We are no longer afraid.
"I would say we have a 50/50 chance - the Warriors put in a huge performance to win at Wasps but Wasps won at Bridgend last weekend so why not us?"
