Leicester boss Dean Richards saw his team tear apart Heineken Cup rivals Ulster on Saturday, and then declared: 'We had a point to prove'.
The Tigers got their European campaign back on track with a stunning 49-7 victory at Welford Road that took them top of Pool One.
They avenged last weekend's 33-0 drubbing against the same opponents in Belfast by scoring five tries, including a touchdown for Martin Johnson on the day he announced his retirement from international rugby.
England's World-Cup winning captain claimed the final try, which rounded off an outstanding individual display,
'We wanted to make amends this week. The difference in our performance was huge - and all week there has been a real buzz in the camp,' Richards added.
'An 80-point turn around from last weekend is quite immense, but there are a lot of hard games still to go and we need to win our remaining two fixtures in the pool.
'Saturday's performance was a long-time coming. We have turned a little bit of a corner, but we are not going to start shouting from the rooftops.'
Ulster coach Alan Solomons admitted that his team had been on the receiving end of a rampant Leicester performance.
'We weren't on our game today, and Leicester were right on theirs,' he said. 'This tournament is of such a high standard that if you are not on your game then you are going to take a heavy defeat.'
Ulster skipper Andy Ward added: 'We can't afford to dwell too much on what has happened today, we can't turn back the clock, and it was one of those days - there are no excuses.'
Solomons also paid a glowing tribute to Johnson, stating: 'It is disappointing for England to lose a man of his stature, but he is going out right at the top, and he deserves nothing less than that.
'He is a magnificent player, and he will be greatly missed by world rugby.'
