Connacht face another French examination in Round 2 of the Parker Pen Challenge Cup - and coach Michael Bradley expects Pau to be a stiffer challenge than Beziers.
Connacht advanced to Round 2 courtesy of a better points difference from their two legs against Beziers while Pau won both legs of their Round 1 games against Rugby Parma
"We expect Pau to be somewhat similar to Beziers but perhaps even more of a threat behind the scrum - they have shown this season they have the ability to run in some nice tries," said Bradley.
"They are probably a more balanced side than Beziers and it is going to be an unbelievably tough tie but we have to focus on this home leg and then make any assessment on what we may be required to do in the away game.
"We would have preferred to play away in the first leg as now there is a bit of pressure on us to get a result and, hopefully, a decent margin of points difference to take into the second leg."
Connacht go into Round 2 of the tournament after holding Munster to a 3-0 scoreline in their Celtic League match last weekend.
"It was a miserable day and a heavy pitch but it was a good, tight and hard game," said Bradley. "We had our chances but didn't take them.
"Of course a win would have been nice - and we played well enough to win against a side with 14 internationals on the pitch and six more on the bench - but it certainly wasn't the worst result we will ever have."
