All Blacks legend Jerry Collins spoke for everyone connected with the Ospreys when he said his side "got out of jail" in their 25-24 home win over ASM Clermont Auvergne.
Having won the first-half 22-3, the Welsh region found the tables turned on them as the Frenchmen came storming back to take the second period 21-3.
That left the Ospreys, who squandered an 18 point lead at Leicester the previous weekend on their way to a 32-32 draw, needing a 63rd minute Dan Biggar penalty to edge their noses back in front.
"Let's face it, we got out of goal with that Dan Biggar penalty in the second half," admitted Heineken Man of the Match Collins.
"They caught us cold in the first 15 minutes of the second half. We couldn't do anything right and we couldn't get our hands on the ball.
"We missed a few tackles and they got the bounce of the ball. It meant we had to regroup and try to keep things together.
"We managed to do that and, in the end, we're pretty happy with the points. It's much better winning than losing - even if it is by a point."
The Ospreys meet Viadana in the back-to-back games in rounds three and four in December and director of coaching Scott Johnson has not intention of changing the way his side plays.
"It was nice to see a positive attitude at the start of the game, although it was disappointing it was so close in the end," said Johnson.
"But I don't want this team to go into its shell. We want to be aggressive with the ball in our hands and we want to play some footy.
"The reality was that we didn't get our hands on the ball in the second half. But we can be fairly pleased with where we are after two games."
