Sale Sharks skipper Dean Schofield insists his side won't be getting carried away by one result after they kept their Heineken Cup campaign alive with a 27-26 home win over Cardiff Blues.
After the heavy defeat in Toulouse it was win or bust for the Manchester outfit and Schofield led the way with a vital try for his side.
"We targeted this game, just as every team targets their home games. We knew the Blues was gong to be a tough game for us and we wanted our players fresh for it," said Schofield.
"We are now moving in the right direction and it was a good performance. We look dangerous when we are moving forward.
"But we have to put this to bed now and we won't get carried away with this win. We've got Harlequins home and away in December and they will be tough.
"They are a quality team and they know everything about us. But, hopefully, this win will kick start our season.
"We won't get carried away it because we only won by a point. We'll keep our heads down and backsides up."
Sharks director of rugby Kingsley Jones was delighted to see so much of what his side had worked on in training come good on the night with two of the three tries coming from planned moves.
His only frustrations were not getting the bonus point and seeing England and Lions prop Andrew Sheridan helped off with a dislocated shoulder.
"The result made me happy, but the injury to Andrew was very sad for us. But there was a massive improvement from where we have been," said Jones.
"It was really important for us to get a win - we needed it. We'd had two games at home where we'd performed well without getting the results.
"We allowed the Blues into the game at the start with our over enthusiasm, but it was pleasing in the end to see some of the things we have done in training coming off.
"We let the Blues off the hook a bit and we were hanging on in the end, but as a group we are going to learn from tonight and get better.
"We will take the result and it will be upwards and onwards from here."
