Ben Cohen believes Sale Sharks' fledglings will improve following the 36-17 defeat in the south of France.
The Guinness Premiership outfit were without several key players including Charlie Hodgson, Mark Cueto and skipper Dean Schofield for the daunting trip to the three-time champions.
And Sale's second string could not cope with the French giants who put them to the sword in the south of France, running in five tries.
But England World Cup winner Cohen believes Kingsley Jones' young guns will learn from their mistakes in the future.
Cohen said: "We give 100 per cent but it was a really tough match for us because of the number of injuries we've had.
"It is difficult enough to compete with the likes of Toulouse at full strength but with the number of players missing, it was a bridge too far.
"We must give credit to Toulouse because we know they are a world class side who are always involved in the business end of the Heineken Cup.
"They have so much experience in their side and I'm sure the young lads will learn from the experience.
"Toulouse attacked us from all angles and deserve respect for their style of play - it was difficult to stop them in the first half.
"But we hope Kingsley will have more options to choose from next week against Cardiff Blues."
