Newport Gwent Dragons have confirmed that Lyn Jones has signed an 18 month consultancy contract with specific responsibilities for contact skills and attack play.
Chief Executive Gethin Jenkins said; "Lyn's contribution to the team since his arrival has been excellent and we have been glad to have been able to utilise his knowledge and passion for the game and pleased that he has agreed to continue with us for the remainder of this season and next."
Head Coach Paul Turner Said; "Lyn has brought tremendous enthusiasm and skills to the role, the benefits of which have been evident over the past few weeks. It's been good for us to use his experience and equally he has fitted and in well with the coaching staff and players.
Speaking of his appointment Lyn Jones commented: "It is a privilege for me to join the Dragons on a more permanent basis and I am delighted to be able to accept a role that allows us to continue to build on the relationships and successes of recent months. The Dragons have been good to me since I left the Ospreys and I have been struck by the down to earth passion for the game that is evident throughout the region. There is a strong core of players and coaches in the region that I am sure we will build something special over the next few seasons and I hope to be able to play a small part in that success."
Working closely with Paul and the coaching staff at the Dragons, I feel we have the ability, professionalism, leadership and innovation to take the squad on to the next level. We share similar rugby philosophies and a determination to ensure we keep a successful rugby region at Rodney Parade.
I would personally like to thank the Dragons and specially Paul for having the foresight and confidence to take me on in this role."
